Should this only initiative card go in the cube?

  • pays off ramp
  • gets green card advantage
  • nothing else reintroduces initiative
  • Adds a trample creature
    But...
  • Could lead to broken games
  • Initiative is generally unfun
  • Play pattern is too much like monarch

Thoughts?

So we have slacked on the updates, for sure. However, we've finally made the full move to what this cube will be. Not the pauper cube, not the Megu pauper cube, but it's own full balance of pauper goodness.

The size stayed at 419 (which is +1 card) to accommodate the fact we do a lot of 2 player drafting with it. But we want to be able to host up to 8 players as well.

The card quality has changed to be a bit more powerful, but not 'run away good' for one or two colors. All the colors minus blue got a monarch card. So far, we have not tried the initiative. We will evaluate how powerful the monarch is and if it can support the power-level of the initiative. So, we'll see.

With the addition of bounce lands, I am VERY concerned that aggro is not support well enough to handle the power of longer game decks. So, we are identifying any low-curve 'do little' cards (i.e. ruthless ripper, typhoid rats). The goal would be to try and give those pieces to aggro or possible strong-synergy/pseudo-combo (i.e. ivy lane denizen).

Overall, the changes feel very healthy and we will update the cube with each change from here as opposed to sporadic and massive changes.

All for now, pop any questions in here if ya got'em! Otherwise, we'll see ya in the next update!
