Let there be dragons!
The big 100 card update, moving on to Red.
Nothing special to see, Throes of Chaos will stick around for a few test runs. :)
The 100 card update.
Here we go with the black cards.
Weirdest adds to see are probably Seeker's Folly and Nurgle's Rot.
I've always wanted to play a discard 2 card in the cube, and I felt like this had a second mode I really liked. That can help deal with pesky aggressive- or token decks as well.
Nurgle's Rot is an interesting card that I doubt will stay for long, but I'm also a huge fan of Nurgle and Deathguard in Warhammer 40k soooo it may stay just as a pet card.
The 100 card update.
Here comes some blue. Weirdest thing to mention here is Assassin Den. A very weird choice I'm aware. Wanted to see how it would end up working with both supporting U/G counters and the fact that it helps sneak in some damage.
Part of the 100 update.
All white cards.
Helpful hunter got turned back into Spirited Companion as Mesa Enchantress enters the cube. She is on a test run to see if she feels good enough.
The 100 card update.
Here are lands and artifacts.
Each color now have at least one card in the artifact slot that works well for them, woop.
It's happening!
The cube is growing with another 100 cards. This is the first set of updates. There are 2 cards added to each guild slot, which is ALOT, but wanted to have plenty of space there for movement and changes in the future.
And I love having cards here that helps players see where the color combinations can go. There will be further updates in the future once I go through all the different synergies and deck strategies you can aim for.
Ezio is being moved from his home as a Red card, into multi.
A few small changes.
Spirited Companion will be swapped back in once I have a foil or alternative frame version of it. :)
Yes I care about pimping out my cube and trying to keep it as high valuable as possible haha.
It's a hobby project that I do for fun that then turns out to be fun for GAMING as well, win win <3
A few small changes.
Spirited Companion will be swapped back in once I have a foil or alternative frame version of it. :)
Started doing some changes for Foundations and the more I worked through it I realized that the cube is not big enough to host all the cards I love and would want in there.
I currently have a bigger collection of "extras" that may go into the cube and can be put in if cards under- or overperform. But I think it's time to let the cube grow.
So it will become a 460 card cube in a near near future!
OUT > IN
Curse of Disturbance > Stargaze
Black used to have a lot of enchantment in my cube and I'm slowly moving away from them. In a 360 cube you can't really overdo the Enchantment slot (unless you support it and add enough answers but, that would probably create a weird draft vibe). Curse of Disturbance could also qualify to somewhat of a win-more vibe, when you're in a strong position it's very powerful. If you're loosing it's not as impactful. So I'm adding a super cute new bat draw card to the cube instead :3
Marsh Flitter > Feed the Cycle
I really want to keep Marsh Flitter in here but in 360 it's hard to find the space. And I really wanted to add some more removal to black, I feel like I've slowly moved away from the power of black removal and instead focused to much on Sac and Reanimator strategies. Which is fine, but lets keep some of the OG reason black feels powerful in draft. cough but please don't look at the black removal that's in the cube because I for sure go more by vibe than efficancy oops cough
Trygon Prime > Lilysplash Mentor
Trygon Prime was fun and good because a big guy with a fun ability and +1/+1 counters. But... Lilysplash is incredibly powerful and just WORKS. No need to explain more than just reading the card.
Expressive Iteration > Stormcatch Mentor
I really like when my multi-colored cards gives you a build to work towards, and Expressive Iteration is "just" a very efficient draw card. I'd rather give you something that supports your Izzet agressive decks.
Rite of Oblivion > Ruthless Lawbringer
Removal and draw in my multicolor slot is still a no-no, this card stuck around for a long time because I love it so much. But Ruthless Lawbringer is coming in to fill a similar function but in a very different way.
Talrand's Invocation > Otterball Antics
Blue doesn't need more fliers, but it does need more cards that support Prowess/casting strategies. So I replaced it with this card that gives you a nice little Otter, and gets 2 casts.
Illusory Angel > Knightfisher
I saw Knightfisher, I checked how many birds I have in the cube, I chuckled and added it. Illusory Angel is great, but come on. Birds. (This is on the watchlist, probably not strong enough unless I give BIRDS some more support).
Mind Control > Finch Formation
Another BIRD. And also gives you a fun little mini-overrun effect for Blue.
Kept Control Magic in and Mind Control left as it was not very often picked.
Fact or Fiction > Curate
This was mostly for cost efficiency and giving blue some more cheaper draw spells to work with the Prowess, and gives some early graveyard filling for the reanimator.
Dinrova Horror > Lazav, Familiar Stranger
Dinrova Horror has been around forever, and even though I like the effect and think it's a fun card to play around with. Costs overall needs to go down and reanimator targets are so strong these days that this guy get overlooked. Lazav is in to give you some new fun interactions and works well with proliferate / +1/+1 counters.
Wayfarer's Bauble > Fountainport Bell
Fountainport Bell is fun, Bauble is not. Woo.
Loxodon Warhammer > Goldvein Pick
This is sad, but maybe, just maybe Loxodon Warhammer is WAY to powerful when it get's to go unbothered on the board. The lifelink puts you so far ahead from your opponent, the trample makes it ever more opressive. So I'm adding some Treasure/Token support instead. We'll see how long this card stays in.
Rampant Growth > Heaped Harvest
Artifact? Food? Ramps twice?
Yea I was an immediate sucker for this one. OOPS.
Conclave Naturalists > Hivespine Wolverine
Conclave was in because it's a beautiful card to look, I really enjoyed having it in the cube as a pet card that I loved. But... Hivespine Wolverine does the same thing AND then some. On the watch list.
Beast Attack > Priest of Titania
A strong card is out for a card that I love. OOPS
Brimstone Volley > Heartfire Hero
I love Brimstone Volley and it ends plenty of games, but I think I'd rather see more interactive early game things from red instead of the straight up burn/finishers. Seeing how this works out, gives some more incentives to play equipments.
Rakka Mar > Coruscation Mage
Less sac support for red, but more spell slinging support. Again to make Izzet a bit more tempting.
Slip On the Ring > Parting Gust
Removing my last "Ring Temptation" effect from the cube, as it's an annoying thing to remember what the different steps are and Parting Gust have lots more flexibility so it's in. (Also, cute art!)
Faerie Guidemother > Fearless Fledgling
Wanted more +1/+1 counter in white, and this is a SOMETIMES flier that doesn't feel as punishing. Also make bouncelands a bit more fun for white to grab.
Emancipation Angel > Citizen's Crowbar
Again, a bit less support for U/W fliers and giving white another card that answers artifact/enchantments without punishing their small dude strategy.
Decree of Justice > Star Charter
Decree is fun, but not sure it had a great spot in the cube, a bit too many heavy. This change is being watched and we'll see how it feels.
Okay so a bunch of card changes and art updates with this one. Let's go through them quickly!
Goblin Anarchomancer > Grumgully
It simply was not a "fun" draft pick. When picking a multi color card I want it to feel either higly impactful or FUN for your strategy. Anarchomancer, is good, but the mood is meh.
Cloudblazer > Reflector Mage
Mostly I could not say no to the art of the Reflector Mage I put in. And U/W flyers is already strong without having a great blink payoff as well. If the cube every goes up in size, Cloudblazer will be back in for sure.
Binding of the Old Gods > Spiritmonger
This is another card that has been replaced based on my fairly recent thought on multi-color cards. I don't want straight up efficient removal in the multi-slot if there are more interesting strategy cards to put in there. And Golgari got SOOO many fun and interesting options. So this goes in for testing.
Nature's Way > Overwhelming Encounter
You know what's more fun than than giving a creature Vigilance and Trample? Playing a good ol Overrun card.
This will slowly lead to having some more +1/+1 cards in the cube. But we'll see if I do a major overhaul to make that fit better in the future.
Yedora, Grave Gardener > Conclave Naturalists
Most read Yedor and go: eh. Okay? Sure.
Conclade naturalists is pretty, okay stats for a Naturalize, and oh it's pretty.
Twinshot Sniper > Stormblood Berserker
Hellspark Elemental > Heartfire Immolator
Doing some changes to red to have a few more early drops.. that actually stay on the board.
Faramir, Field Commander > Flickerwisp
Blessed Alliance > Slip On the Ring
Faramir was a lot for 4 mana, and even though I love value engines, he was just not quite there. Blessed Alliance had a similar issue where it became a mana sink that was hard to time. Instead I added more cards for the flicker strategy.
Ribbons of Night > Feast of Succession
Dark Ritual > Night Clubber
Persistent Specimen > Marsh Flitter
Ribbons of Night/Dark Ritual and Persistent Specimen where in the cube because I love the cards and have lots of emotional connection to them, but sometimes you have to clean up for the health of the cube. So they left and I put in some cards I've been considering to try for awhile.
