Updated the rest of the cube with cards through Bloomburrow. Most notably this includes Modern Horizons 3! The biggest change is that each color now has 10 partners and they are in yellow sleeves as described in the last post. Here are some highlights:
A large number of changes are coming to the cube in the first part of the update I'm going over the multi-colored changes:
Partners are now in yellow sleeves and one (or 2 with 4 players) goes in each pack. This is done for a few reasons, it was getting a bit hard to explain all the things that constitute as a partner (background, partner with, friends forever) and some players felt stressed partner might not show up. Making this change gives me the power to add partner to cards that did not previously have them and gives drafters more consistency knowing a partner will show up at each pack.
Hybrid Commander cycle and hybrid non-legendaries. Each color pair gets one commander and one non-commander. In this cube hybrid cards as commanders give players access to each of their colors but in the main deck, they only require one matching color identity. This should give players more drafting options.
Companions! All but Lutri can be run rules as written.
New archetypes. These will be updated soon in the overview. I tried to think of an archetype for each tri-color pair and 2 colored pair.
Less 2-colored partners. I am halfing the count because I want more 2 and 3 colored decks and less 4 colored piles.
New commanders. Everyone welcome Falco, the new Bant Legend, and welcome back Kess who will take over Marchesa's Grixis slot. There are a few other new commanders out there also; I'm especially excited to see if Tor Wauki can make a deck. And Nahiri is here for the much-needed upgrade to the all in equipment archetype
Mostly a setup for a future larger overhaul that will happen a bit after MH3 comes out.
Notable Cuts:
Chain Lightning - I love Lightning bolt but I think one is plenty for this type of cube.
Ryusei, the falling Star - I'm cutting back on board clears and this is one of the more awkward ones, don't worry we got a new spicy dragon.
Stubborn Denial - Also want to cut back on counterspells and this is my least favorite
Notable Adds:
Scion of Opulence - Not adding tribes again I just think this card is good enough without the tribal element
Incinerator of the Guilty - The new Spicy Dragon
Dramatic Reversal - I want to see if this works as a value card, still hoping that tap untap can be a cool thing that Blue does
Boros Battleshaper - Probably not going to stay long
I am most hyped about Insidious Roots, seems like it could be good with a lot of different things green and black are trying to do. Doppelgang is a silly card and the cube is always looking for those. Kaya is a bit too wordy for my liking but I want to try it out because it seems like it can also do silly things. I'm not convinced yet that Assemble the Players is a good card but I do feel like it's more fun to draft than Karmic Justice. I'm also cutting a sacrifice outlet from black for a deadly dispute which I think goes into more decks, should be fine because I added a few sacrifice outlets last time. Cultivator of Blades has never really lived up to expectations so I'm cutting it for the cool new self-mill enabler and payoff detective. This does bring me down to only 3 green 5 drops but that sounds like a problem for a later update.
-Not enough cards to entice anyone to draft the tribal stuff so I'm removing it.
Going to have to do another mini-update soon just to fix card art and remove a card (I don't know how I ended up with too many)
bit better fixing
up to date now
just alined the cube with the physical copy
