It's spring break, so time for some tinkering. Minor adjustments (and hopefully improvements) all around. Hopefully some of these additions also throw some spice into two of the "hidden" archetypes in the cube: assassin tribal and elementals.
Not a huge number of changes for the summer overhaul, but there are a couple of subtle shifts at play. I like the boos for the 4-power matters theme, because even though it can play really well, it doesn't have a lot of natural draws into it. Hopefully increasing asfan does a little to get it on people's radar. Also, it's nice to give a bit of a boost to the Izzet "play two" tempo deck.
Finally, Momentary Blink was a tough cut, but Scrollshift has appeal in multiple archetypes whereas Momentary Blink often gets passed up by them because it looks like it is only playable in Azorious.
Blanchwood Prowler, get in my cube! An elemental that mills? Sign me up!
I'm not sure what to do about the erosion of snow. I really like it as a sub-theme, but can't tell if it needs more support or less.
Boosting ninjas and Boros, while trying to spread the cuts around. We'll see how it plays!
After much deliberation, I've decided to try something new. I've always wanted to run ninjas in this cube, but didn't want to let go of the self-mill themes. Then MID provided a great blueprint for a fun self-mill deck and I saw an opening. The snow them had to take a hit, but it demanded too much of the drafter anyway, and I've left a token amount in just for spice. Also, I'm shifting Izzet to a slightly higher average mana value and away from needing to be pure aggro. I'm curious to see how things go!
Just throwing in a ton of KHM cards to see what things look like. Now I need to decide whether I want to break symmetry (more than I already have), especially when it comes to multi-colored cards, and/or whether to go over 360.
Also, I might want to add another sweeper into the environment, but I would like it to be as on-theme as possible.
