I wanted to make my own cube. So I did!
My goal is to cultivate a high power modern+ draft environment that includes cards and themes that I enjoy. That's admittedly a broad goal that makes it hard to answer the age old question "what kind of cube is it?" But, as almost exclusively a drafter, this cube is my way of staying enfranchised and invested in Magic as a hobby outside of retail draft.
Things I like:
Aggro, Midrange, and Control and Tempo.
Build around, deck defining cards like Wilderness Reclamation, Omnath, Locus of Creation, and Companions.
Plentiful mana-fixing (The kaldheim snow duals come into play untapped).
Luminous Broodmoth.
The only notable exclusions from the cube are Combo decks such as Re-animator and Kiki combo. Although I acknowledge combo has its place in cubes, combo decks are not an experience I want to include in the cube.
Another acknowledgement I should make is that by having the sole design goal of being "include cards I enjoy," I've created an environment that is not particularly newcomer friendly. I would never deny a newcomer from drafting the cube and being a part of the experience, but inclusions like Suspicious Stowaway vs Huntmaster of the Fells, MDFC's, foiled/extended are versions of cards that don't include helpful reminder text, textless promos Lightning Bolt and Path to Exile, and a large assortment of mechanics all throughout Magic's history creates a steep learning curve for those unfamiliar with most of the cards. This is always in the back of my mind and I will definitely make changes should I find players are daunted and not enjoying the experience because of this steep learning curve.
Thank you for checking out my cube!
New cards. Yippee!
Aside from new cards, trying to cut the number of cards in black that cost life to do things, because I noticed like 1/3 of the creatures in black cost life to do the things they wanted, which is a bit overkill.
Also still on the journey of trimming star cards that probably don't fit the power level and also aren't niche/intriguing enough. Some cards were cards that brought me a lot of joy in early iterations of the cube that I'm now ready to part ways with.
