... Value! And decisions! In spades! I've crafted this list with great care and research (20+ years in MTG, 5+ designing Cubes). This box produces extremely deep, gratifying games of Magic with minimal setup.

1. Maximum Replayability – Extra large card pool ensures every game will be unique.
2. Highly Interactive – Almost 300 instants / cards with Flash keeps it tense.
3. Medium Power-Level (Peasant+) – Includes some slightly more powerful cards than might be the norm for battlebox, mainly to up the excitement and complexity. Threats should all be answerable though (no hexproof).
4. Value Engines are King – Flicker, recursion, bounce, copying are all important tools to retrigger ETB effects and pull ahead.
5. Great Decision Density – I'd like each turn to offer a large array of different plays, to increase the skill ceiling. So tonnes of charms, commands, activated abilities, mana sinks, modal spells.
6. Low Curve – Average CMC is 2.65 mana. This makes the early game more eventful / streamlined, opens up the decision tree later in the game via multi-spelling, and eliminates slow top-end haymakers.
7. Creature-Heavy, No Planeswalkers – Games are won through combat! I hope you like action-packed boards!
8. Expensive Sweepers – They mostly cost 6+ mana, to limit the advantage of redeploying immediately post-wrath.

• 5x Basic Lands ( Normal Modern Frame Avons. Full-arts are for plebs :P )
• 5x Guildgates ( one player gets allied, the other enemy colored )
• 1x Aether Hub ( enables clutch plays, makes topdecks more castable, provides eldrazi mana, synergizes with energy cards )
  To get a feel for it view a sample pack here. Look at the first 4 cards. That would be an opening hand. Pretty spicy stuff!
