Welcome to my cube! The idea behind this one is a little strange, it started with idea to create a cube with only cards from the Lucky Paper Radio card surveys (which started in 2019 with Throne of Eldraine and have continued with every set since then.) But upon experimenting with that idea I found that Vintage Cube, when you sort by: year>=2019 is ~364 cards! Whoa, that's a cube right there! So the idea evolved into: What if you played only the new powercreeped modern side of Vintage Cube without the baggage of all the trivia checks and fast mana that comes with it.
Thus enters; The Postmodern Vintage Cube. Postmodern like in art, but also because it's Post-the-modern-format, starting all the way in 2019.
The rule for inclusion is: "First printing has 2019 on it or later". The cards included are supposed to give you the feeling of the direction magic has been taking in the last 5+ years, they're supposed to make you go "ugh magic did what?" when you make your pick. They're supposed to make you say "back in my day magic..!" it's all part of the point. Lean in.
Because of this I've tagged this cube as a "Powered Modern Cube" and obviously there's no Power 9 in here, Modern also doesn't have Whiteplum and Minsc either, that's the power. These words have no meaning here, it's postmodern. Go with it.
The cube is attempting to be powermaxed for the appropriate era, it includes annoying things like The Initiative, The Monarch, bowmasters, broadside, The One Ring, Minsc-- even Comet. But it's got a very unique texture because notable exclusions include, Lightning Bolt, Swords/Path, Brainstorm, Birds, Thoughtseize etc.
There's deliberately no combo in this cube, just combat. Every deck probably ends up as some flavor of midrange for the most part, with aggro and control on the far ends of the spectrum. (but that's my favorite kind of magic!)
TLDR Creatures are cracked and removal kind-of costs ~2.
Part of the reason I put this together is also to update with the release of every set, including the newest, dumbest powercreeped toys. Stay tuned for that!
The cube is fully singleton, even lands.
idk let's find out!
None!
