This is a battlebox focused on solid (but not absolutely insane) limited cards from the Pioneer format. There are at least 10
cards from each Pioneer set. The power-level I'm focusing on is "cards you'd feel good first-picking."
This is my first attempt at a battlebox and I'm always open to suggestions and critiques. I'd like to eventually get down to
exactly ten cards from each set, but there's a lot of tough cuts and this will need some playtesting before it becomes obvious
what needs to be cut.
I'm avoiding dedicated card draw at the moment, as I've found that to be much more powerful in battlebox than normal formats for a
variety of reasons. I'm also avoiding one-sided boardwipes/bounces/taps or boardwipes that put creatures into play. There's not a
lot of counterplay to them and even at 7+ mana, they are very easy to cast in this format. I'm also considering how I want to
handle counterspells. Some number of them is likely healthy for the format, but I'm already trying to make cuts, so I'm not sure
where they'd go.
