---INTRO---

So, been kicking this idea around in my head and this is my first pass.

Jumpstart was one of my favorite sets of 2020. The linear strategies really worked out for me and the small group of players I played with. But I often found myself wanting a few cards from outside the set 20-card archetypes you would get to open that would be in another deck.

So why not make it draftable?

The design here is to take the uncommons or better rarity cards and put them in the cube as singles. from there, I trimmed a few cards from red and transferred them to blue and white to even out the numbers in all columns. Its a rough first draft and I can see myself venturing outside of Jumpstart to improve the initial concepts as the Cube evolves.

Due to balance issues, the M21 Planeswalkers were dropped from the first draft as, even in regular Jumpstart, they were far too powerful and backbreaking to fight against. In a draft, they would be even more powerful.

---WILDCARDS---

You'll also note that the placeholder cards for each deck are in the cube. Each of these cards represent all the common cards in those decks and act as a one-of Wildcard to select a common from that deck and add it to your pool. In that way, you can draft wildcards in your color and add a utility single from that deck to your pool.

---RULES FOR WILDCARDS---

  1. Wildcards can be exchanged post-draft for any one common non-land card from that deck (decklists can be found here: https://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/feature/jumpstart-decklists-2020-06-18 )

  2. You may not exchange a wilcard for a copy of a card you already received from a wildcard(for example, the card "Basri's Acolyte" is in both the Basri and Doctor decks. If you had wildcards for both of those decks, you can only exchange one for Basri's Acolyte and the other could be used for another common from one of those decks.

  3. All wildcards must be redeemed before the start of the draft (to prevent perfect sideboarding using wildcards).

  4. There is currently no limit to the number of wildcards one can redeem for your deck but, if the mechanic proves too powerful, there may be a cap put on in later iterations.
