Two-Color Archetypes:
: Flash. Fair magic, just on your opponent’s turn.
: Tokens. The worst creatures you’ve ever played, now in ridiculous quantities.
: Taking Combat Turns (Aggro). Have a combat step. And another. And another.
: Counters. When combat math requires an advanced degree.
: Play-Your-Opponent’s-Cards (Control). The ultimate answer to an opponent who drafted better cards than you did.
: Upcycled Artifacts. One man’s trash is the same man’s treasure.
: Pod. Upconvert your creatures into something a little more gigantic.
: Reanimator. They aren't that scary if they're in the graveyard, right?
: Graverobbing. Inverting libraries since 1994.
: Sneaky Monsters. Mana costs are for chumps.
Three-Color Archetypes:
(Esper): Play everything on your opponent’s turn.
(Bant): Tempo, tempo, tempo.
(Grixis): Reanimate everything!
(Sultai): Control, but with win cons.
(Mardu): Go wide and go often. Lots of tokens. Lots of attack steps.
(Abzan): Go wide and grow. Buff tokens.
(Jeskai): Combat tricks, with a side of combat
(Jund): No need to cast any of these creatures.
(Naya): Making big creatures bigger.
(Temur): Not-so-subtle monsters. Big monsters, early and often.
Baseline Assumptions and Objectives
No infinite combos or win-on-the-spot cards
Equity across colors, pairs, and triads
Ample support for 3-, 4-, and 5-color heroes, I mean, drafters
Power level of Modern with the flavors of Legacy
