The Hybrid Commander Cube

Welcome to the world of functioning hybrid in commander

What is it?

Color identity is particularly restricting in a commander draft environment, so how do we fix that? By "fixing" the color identity rules for hybrid mana symbols! After all, that's the whole point of hybrid.

In this commander cube, the color identity of any card is determined after ignoring half of any hybrid mana symbols, thus allowing for a b-r or r-g symbol in a rw deck! In addition, only the front face of a double-sided card is considered for color identity.

This makes many hybrid cards hot early picks because they don't lock players into particular colors. But remember, this only affects deck-building! Cards still play as written otherwise*. That's why there are plenty of cards that care how many colors you have, making the environment even more unique.

*One more thing, all commanders with a color identity of one-or-fewer gain partner! A large majority of the decks drafted in this cube will have partners at the helm, this goes a long way in increasing replayability! But what if you have a commander who has hybrid mana symbols determining it's color identity? Well, some commanders can utilize the special color-identity rule to reduce theirs and gain partner!

These two can partner for a wg or ug deck

Archetypes

The cube is very large, and each color combination dips into multiple themes, and some themes bleed into other colors.
