Drafting

Drafting follows Ryan Overturf's Minneapolis Drafting:
https://articles.starcitygames.com/premium/the-proper-way-to-do-two-player-cube-drafts/

Due to the size of this being smaller than (8*7*2=) 112 cards, 7 packs per player with 7 leftover is the current iteration.

Minneapolis Draft is a two-player draft format where both players make eight 7 packs of seven cards.

  1. Each player starts by simultaneously opening their first pack without showing the contents to the other player, drafting one card face down, and then trading their first pack with the other player.
  2. Then each player takes two cards from the other player’s pack and trades back.
  3. Finally, players take an additional two cards from the pack they had opened and the last two cards in each pack are discarded face-down from the draft.
  4. To reiterate, that’s one first pick, two picks from the other player’s pack, and then two last cards from the pack you opened before discarding the remaining two cards from the draft.
  5. Players continue this process until all eight 7 of their packs have been drafted.
  6. From here players add any number of basic lands to their deck and play some 40-card Limited Magic.
After Match

After each match the player can sign one of the following if they haven't signed a card yet:
a) a card that they drafted + used
b) token that they used
c) 2 basics from their deck

Additional signing notes, this cube tries to utilize each card with updated oracle text and the 2015 Modern frame. Unfortunately Miscalculation, Ponder (personally waiting for a printing with non-C in set acronym), and Goblin Bushwhacker still don't have those (Burst Lightning was the most recent printing to get fixed with Magic Foundations).

Reducing the curve of Blue (5 -> 3, 4 -> 2) and Black (5 -> 1) while removing some direct damage spells from Red and replacing them with a slightly weaker removal spell (Abrade) and a creature (Fang Dragon).

We'll keep evaluating Whisper Agent over Recoil and whether the double hybrid cost makes the card too efficient for the color slot (Dimir) it is supposed to take. Dimir Infiltrator was briefly in the cube but was never picked in the ~10 drafts we did after it replaced Recoil.

Snuff Out has been added to the cube to give Black more direct removal while also removing Sign in Blood since it wasn't often picked and/or cast.

Deep Analysis is being tested with Smoke Shroud replacing it to enable the Ninja/ninjutsu archetype while aiming to not make it too powerful.

Spell Pierce was not replaced by Brinebarrow Intruder (from the Minor Adjustments v1.02 post).
