This is the Golden cube. This cube looks to celebrate all things Hybrid and Gold in Magic the Gathering.
Gold cards are some of the coolest cards in any given set. Often spawning their own decks in limited, gold cards are often the signpost cards for any given archetype in most limited sets. But what would happen, if every card in the set was gold? What would happen if Alara Reborn was 3X? Well, it's not 2008 anymore, and gold cards are beloved by players everywhere. 16 years later many, many more gold cards have been printed to the delight and dismay of many players.
This cube seeks to recapture the experience of playing with the cards that got them excited from years past and present. From some of the coolest limited build-around cards to constructed all-stars from years past, to some of the more iconic Commanders from when commander products came out once a year, this cube has everything for you.
The idea is to have zero mono-coloured cards. This includes split cards like Fire Ice, and Wear Tear, as they are technically 2 mono-coloured spells and go against the idea of having it be completely gold and hybrid mana.
As mentioned above, The cube is full of multicoloured cards both Gold cards and Hybrid mana cards. This is to allow for flexibility when drafting 2 colours and to alleviate some pressures when drafting. cards like Kitchen Finks and Murderous Redcap are legal as they are multicoloured.
The idea was inspired by one of my friends about a decade ago. We both wanted to see what a cube would look like if all the cards were gold. the initial list we had drafted up was awesome... and expensive at the time. Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker was an expensive card back in the day. The idea was there, but not able to come to fruition, and the idea was shelved until now.
