Thanks for looking!

Focus:

  • The goal of this cube is to develop a fun and balanced format of diverse archetypes.
  • My intention is to avoid powerful cards that have game-warping effects as well as combos that lead to an immediate victory.
  • My aim is to keep the cube within a budget of $1,000 (although I may adjust this in future).

Card distribution:

  • 345 monocoloured: 69 of each colour (balanced)
  • 135 multicoloured/colourless: 7 of each guild (70) + 1 of each shard/wedge (10) + 55 colourless
  • 60 land: 4 of each guild (40) + 1 of each shard/wedge (10) + 10 generic

Exclusions:

  • No pre-modern card frames
  • No white-border cards
  • No silver-border cards
  • No double-faced cards
  • No cards referencing cards from outside the game (i.e. wish cards)
  • No cards referencing snow mana or snow permanents
  • No made-for-multiplayer cards (i.e. cards referencing commanders)
  • No 'Universes Beyond' cards
  • No cards over $20 (excluding dual lands)

Excluded strategies:

  • No stax
  • No mill (besides self-mill)
  • No discard (besides self-discard/madness)
  • No land destruction (besides sacrificing own lands)
  • No poison

New draft preparation (13/12/2023):

  • My intention IRL is to semi-randomise booster packs to avoid an unbalanced distribution of colours/types.
  • First, sperate the cards by colour type; 69 cards of each colour, 135 multicoloured/colourless, and 60 lands.
  • Then shuffle seperately and divide into 3 groups of 180 cards; 23 cards of each colour, 45 multicoloured/colourless, and 20 lands.
  • Next, 15-card packs are assembled as follows; 1 card of each colour, 2 multicoloured/colourless cards, 1 land, and 7 random/other.
  • The 7 random/other cards come from the remaining 84 unallocated cards from that group.
  • Each group of 180 cards will produce 12 packs, enough for 4 players to draft or a 2-player sealed.

Previous draft preparation:

  • This is achieved by equally distributing cards into stacks of 90 cards.
  • Each stack will consist of 11 random cards of each colour (55), 15 random multicoloured cards, 10 random colourless cards and 10 random lands.
  • Once assembled, each stack of 90 cards is shuffled and separated into 6 equal booster packs of 15 cards.
  • For 4-player grid drafts, each 90-card stack is separated into 6 packs of 15 cards. Use 3 stacks to create 18 packs to draft with.
  • For 2-player grid drafts, each 90-card stack is instead separated into 10 packs of 9 cards. Use 2 stacks to create 20 packs to draft with.
