Welcome to the Pioneer Cube

The cube has all the Pioneer set cards, whether banned or not. Its size is ideal for demonstrating all the possibilities of the format. This cube is updated with each new edition, so follow it to keep up to date.

Some rules are used to balance the cube:

  • Each color has access to 3 Planeswalkers (+3 Colorless Planeswalkers ), while each guild has access to a maximum of one.

  • Each color has access to "one special land".

  • Only lands with full playsets are used (i.e. no Fetch Lands).

  • All colors are balanced to be able to develop Aggro, Midrange or Control archetypes. Thus, each color has at least 7 creatures cost 1 and 8 creatures cost 2.

"Colors Vocation"

All colors can play aggro, midrange, control or combo. However, respecting the color pie, the cube brings a little more tools for them to perform their main vocations. Divided into the 10 Shards, with the central color as the "main", this chart is a guide to these vocations.

Two Color Focused Archetypes

All multicolor pairs have two good generic spells and four cards that suport their "focused archetypes".

uw

Counter-Go: The combination brings counterspells as Negate and Essence Scatter and Mass Removals as Sunfall and Supreme Verdict so you can clean the table to win with Teferi, Hero of Dominaria.

ub

Fish: Efficient cards like Brazen Borrower and Deep-Cavern Bat can really slow down your opponent's game. In the multicolor, Hostage Taker and Ertai Resurrected will put pressure on the table while putting an end to your opponent's plans.

br

Machine Head: Attack you opponent's hand with Thoughtseize or Duress and kill their creatures with Molten Collapse and Lightning Strike. In the multicolor section, Kollaghan's Command and Kroxa, Titan of Death's Hunger excel in the attrition game to close the match.

rg

Fires: Haste and raw power from Rampaging Raptor and Ulvenwald Oddity are examples of what the archertype wants to do. If you want to play with synergies, use Halana and Alena, Partners, Rabbit Battery and Reckless Stormseeker to give haste to your Anzrag, the Quake-Mole or Elder Gargaroth to win the game in a few turns before your opponent can stabilize.

gw

+1/+1 Counters: Here the deck consists of maximizing cards that increase the number of +1/+1 counters like Ozolith, the Shattered Spire, Hardened Scales and Conclave Mentor or cards that interact with them like The Ozolith. You can also go down the artifact route, drafting cards like Steel Overseer, Hangarback Walker and Walking Ballista are great cards for the archetype.

bw

Aristocrats: Return creatures from your graveyard with Lurrus of the Dream-Den and Serra Paragon, sacrifice them with Bartolomé del Presidio and Woe Strider, and drain your opponents with Elas il-Kor, Sadistic Pilgrim and The Meathook Massacre.

bg

Delirium: While green helps you mill with Satyr Wayfinder and Blossoming Tortoise, black makes good use of the graveyard with its recurring creatures like Tenacious Underdog and Skyclave Shade. Fiend Artisan and Grim Flayer are great flagships for the archetype.

rw

Burn: Use cards like Lightning Helix and Rip Apart to stabilize or get blockers out of the way. Gain value with Monastery Mentor and Young Pyromancer. You can follow a more vertical line with Monastery Swiftspear or a horizontal one with Warleader's Call and Anim Pakal, Thousandth Moon.

ug

Value Town: Draw cards and ramp with Uro, Titan of Nature's Wrath, Growth Spiral and Kellan, Inquisitive Prodigy then use your Hydroid Krasis to finish the game.

ur

Prowess: Use cheap spells like Opt and Play with Fire to win games with Ellusive Otter, Soul-Scar Mage and Ledger Shredder. If you want a more Control Version, use Thing in the Ice and God-Eternal Kefnet to win the game.

Other Archetypes

x
Machine Aggro: You don't have to worry about colors - cards like Steel Overseer, Patchwork Automaton and Traxos, Scourge of Kroog allow you to have a good game plan. Feel free to find the colors that best support your deck!

wubrg

5 Color Good Stuff - Cards such as Golos, Tireless Pilgrim and Niv-Mizzet Reborn may invite your for some 5 color action. Invest in a good mana base and go to town.

Other Decks and Sinergies

There are lethal combos like Saheeli Rai and Felidar Guardian, Metamorphic Alteration and Archfiend of the Dross and Walking Ballista and Heliod, Sun-Crowned but also good interactions like Fight Rigging and Rotting Regisaur. Play around and discover new combinations.
