Simple, Easy, Enkel
This is an eternal environment, with a focus on simple or elegant cards (as evaluated by me). Despite the relative simplicity of the cards themselves, this cube tries to foster intricate, interactive gameplay. The environment is low-curving, but with a wide(r) power-band than the Helgen Cube. Decks are meant to compete along the tempo/value axes and function across the aggro-midrange-control spectrum in different and emergent ways.
Drafting
A draft can be run with each player starting with a Cogwork Librarian.
When drafting with less than 8 players, depending on the amount, either 4 packs of 11 or 5 packs of 9 work well. Generally, fewer people with more packs of fewer cards is more fun.
This cube's curation is vibes-forward and aesthetic-focused, more than power level-minded. The simplicity or elegance of a card is determined by me, but some guiding principles include:
- Prioritizing card versions with correct oracle text
- Limited number of unique tokens, as well as no two tokens with same rules text, p/t, color.
- Focus on classic or easily recognizable mechanics like cycling, flashback, etc.
- Leaning towards iconic cards or creature types
For budget reasons some cards are proxied, including the fetches and shocks, but I am in the process of buying the real cards. Apart from the lands, this cube is singleton.
