Most current version contains no custom cards or errata and was featured in CubeCon 2024.
Beware! Krakens rising from the deep! Massive robots laying waste to all in their path! The land itself rising up to swallow you whole! Rifts ripping holes between all time and space! The remnants of civilization piloting mechs as their last hope of survival! Welcome to the
Disaster Movie Cube!
This cube is inspired by the limited environments in Battle for Zendikar block, Ikoria, Neon Dynasty, and Brothers War to make a battle cruiser-y fight for resources and dominance central to gameplay.
Archetypes
Sea Monsters
Sea Monsters is my favorite typal playstyle in Magic. Prioritize ramp cards to drop massive unblockable fatties.
Esper Vehicles
Focus on building a card advantage engine around creatures with tap synergies or swarm your opponent with a horde of ships piloted by Angel or Pilot tokens.
Time Counters
Manipulate counters to maximize your suspended cards and keep your vanishing creatures. This section got a HUGE boost from the Doctor Who Timey Wimey deck.
Naya Artifact Creatures
Go both wide and tall to smash face with robots. This has some overlap with the Vehicle deck, so be prepared to fight for white artifact-matters cards.
Jund Lands
Combine hard to remove threats with kill spells and incidental value to Jund 'em out, manland-style.
TAG COLORS:
Purple - Cutting Board
Pink - Custom Cards
Turquoise - Errata
RULE NOTES:
The OG duals in the list are actually DMU duals with "enters the battlefield tapped" sharpied out.
Star Whale, Lunar Hatchling, and Squid Napper have been sharpie errata'd into a Leviathan, Serpent, and Octopus, respectively.
Smogbelcher Chariot uses ability counters.
There are five custom cards in the cube: a Sultai Sea Monsters artifact, a blue Magical Hack/Artificial Evolution modal card, a blue Serpent that reduces the cost of Sea Monsters, a red 3 mana rock that can turn all of your lands into Mountains, and a Jeskai ramen monster that's both an enabler and payoff for the time counters deck.
