The Canadian Highlander cube

The inspiration behind building this cube was wanting to play canlander all the time but not having friends with decks to play with to keep up with a diverse format. The cube is designed to create a similar environment for endless ever changing canlander gameplay with build arounds and powerful additions in the points list.

The concept of the points list puts everyone on even ground, giving all players free access to powerful cards. The decks are 60 cards up from a traditional 40, to reflect the environment of canadian highlander better, which uses 100 card singleton decks using the points list. 60 card decks keep the game fresh, so you never experience the same game twice like you would with a smaller deck.

The points list also allows some interesting cube design concepts, allowing small changes to the list to entirely change the power level of certain archetypes by adding or removing cards, as well as modifying point values. Cards that are listed are guaranteed to be in your deck, improving the support of a certain archetype. (Ex. Entomb on the list allows reanimator decks to always have entomb). If you are looking to build a cube similar to this, play with the points list values and additions to completely change the way the cube plays.

Commonly Drafted Archetypes

The archetypes in this cube are mostly based around unique canlander archetypes and single card selections from the points list, creating interesting decks and play patterns that aren't seen in a normal cube.

Here's some of the common unique ones that this cube sees. Many classic archetypes are also supported! Strange combo decks like this are supported very well in this cube, along with having tutors on the list to polish them out. However, traditional "fair" decks can still give these a run for their money with the help of the points list.

Vault and Key

Find time vault and a way to untap it. Commonly supported with cards like tinker, trinket mage, urza's saga

Natural Order

Play some elves and natural order into something big. Commonly supported by Bring to light, mystical tutor.

Rec Sur Reanimator

A reanimator deck using some powerful magic cards. Double activate survival of the fittest to get ulamog, the defiler in the graveyard and emperor of bones to hand for some fun :)

Medium Red

A red deck that has a lot of powerful 3-5 drops such as glorybringer and Chandra, Torch of Defiance. Uses things that tap for more mana then they should to cast them early.

Worldknit Lands

There is many many different types of worldknit decks, but this is the most popular. Use worldknit to find extra utility in lands that usually wouldn't make useful mana. Casting things like Omnath, Locus of Creation is quite easy when every land taps for any color.

Fastbond Wheels

Draw a bunch of cards, make a bunch of mana. Wheels can kill with orcish bowmasters or Sheoldred, the Apocalypse.

Parallax Blink

A blink deck supported by parallax wave being on the list.

TinkerSteel

Play artifacts, find tinker, profit.

SeekerWalk

It's quite easy to take a lot of turns earlier than you think, time walk only costs 2 mana. Commonly supported by Mystic sanctuary, snapcaster mage, eternal witness. This deck is also frequently combined with the blink archetype.
