Based on the Card Kingdom 2018 Starter Cube (although I'm not actually sure that any of those cards remain), my aim was to provide
a cube environment that any player can sit down, draft, and enjoy.
Light on direct archetypes, it focuses almost exclusively on having powerful cards in very straightforward lines of play. See a
card you like? Draft it and play it.
I wanted there to be cards that people instantly recognize and understand - Grave Titan and Lightning Bolt are things
everyone knows. Take as many of them as you can, and jam them in to a fast paced deck that is oriented towards combat and removal.
At least, that is what I thought I was getting. The playgroup now consists of four regular members with a few that float in and
out. There are lines of play that involve four colors, and multiple interweaving strategies.
My play group has done a wonderful job of showing me that whether you plan it or not, if you have people that are good at Magic
sitting at the table with you, they'll show you the archetypes that you accidentally support based on the pool that they have
access to.
