What if you had to draft all of your lands? What if you had to run every card that you picked? What if every single card could be cast as a copy of Chromatic Sphere?

If that intrigues you, then jump on into...

Every Card a MDFC

That's right, girl. Every single card in this cube is backsleeved with a copy of Chromatic Sphere. Drew six lands? Keepable. Cast one face-down as a Chromatic Sphere and get digging. Drew a one-lander? Might be keepable, actually. You're technically allowed to mulligan, but cool kids keep cards. Play with fire. Jump in the pit.

Play What You Draft

There's no deckbuilding phase. You draft 60 cards, in 4 packs of 15, then boom: that's your deck. Maybe you'll have 20-25 lands. Maybe you won't. It doesn't matter. The spheres will guide you. Drafted too many huge 7-drops? Doesn't matter. You can bin them as Chromatic Spheres. Maybe you'll even draw a way to get them back in the late game. Drafted too many colors? WRONG. You drafted the right number of colors. The spheres will guide you. The number of pips you draft matters much more than the color of pips you draft.

Artifacts Galore

Fun artifacts. Weird artifacts. Even a couple extra spherical artifacts. Get out your hammer and

pound some metal.

Jump On In

The lands are weird. The gameplay is weirder. It's more fun than a barrel of balls.

This thing may not be sanitary.

But it will be the best time you've ever had while knee-deep in spheres.

A Quick Note For My Fellow Cube Designers

This cube is an experiment. There are so many possibilities with making every card MDFC-able. Most of them add way more complexity to a draft than I have any interest in. This, however, is a grokkable concept that functions somewhere between every card having cycling 1 and every land having 1,t: Add one mana of any color to your mana pool.

This Cube is not "polished." I have zero interest in polishing it toward any specific point, though I will be making changes to facilitate fun play patterns and to cut truly egregious power outliers. This cube is ALL about vibes. People will go "whoa," and have fun brewing during the draft. People will have decks unlike any deck they've ever had before. People will get blown up by stuff that they didn't draw answers for. People will end up with not enough lands, and the spheres will account for most of that, but can't truly solve everything. People will get slightly salty at the decidedly non-flat power band. But guess what? It's a ball pit. If a grown-ass adult is getting cranky in the ball pit, they can be politely asked to spend their quality time elsewhere and let the kids have fun.

I haven't scraped all 30,000 magic cards for the "best" fits for slots. That means nothing to me. This cube is built entirely from cards I own, cards my friends own, and cards I could trade for locally. I'd love to hear your ideas for how to make it fit its supposed design goals better (and for you to guess what those design goals were!) but I will very likely say "That's a cool card!" and then only include it in the list if you mail me a copy.
