The Bad Bitch Cube
Designed by Gimmi and Tam

The goal of this cube is to play the baddest bitches from the Magic universe and beyond!

The Baddies 💅

They're all baddies, but in your deck someone's gonna be the baddest. There's a rotating cast of best cards, so you'll usually see cards like these at the top tables of your draft. These ladies don't need much help getting the job done.

Every draft is a little different. Sometimes your main characters need a supporting cast. These build-arounds can help you find your lane early in the draft or be a great pay off if you already find yourself in the archetype.

There are a ton of role players in the cube that can be used to pivot your draft when you haven't quite figured out what you're building. If it's your first time playing this cube, these cards are a safe way to start any draft. These ladies may not be knockouts in your deck, but they'll always make the cut.

Best of luck in your drafts! 💃

Assorted Questions and Comments
  1. Is <insert_card_here> a bad bitch?
    Yes, and stop asking.

  2. Maintaining the vibe
The ethos of the cube depends on the cards' artwork. We try to use mostly original Magic artwork, but sometimes for gameplay reasons there are cards we want to include with no suitable artwork. Around ~5% of the cube is altered to serve this purpose.

  3. Basic lands
The basic lands box contains snow lands. There are a few cards in the cube that refer to snow permanents like On Thin Ice, but otherwise they are functionally normal basic lands. 1 of each normal basic is available for any drafter who picks Field of the Dead.

  4. Balance
The cube is roughly color-balanced. We aim to keep every color and strategy competitive. There should be no clear best color here.

  5. Triomes and fixing
There are 5 triomes with an even distribution of colors. Most of them support existing archetypes that have been drafted frequently. Every 2 color deck should be able to find ample fixing. Getting into 3rd and 4th colors may require a bit more investment into fixing during the draft.

  6. Monarch, Initiative, etc
There are no Monarch or Initiative cards in the cube. The cube used to have cards like Palace Jailer, Seasoned Dungeoneer , and Caves of Chaos Adventurer, but they provided too much card advantage on their own. The same was true of other similar cards like The One Ring and Sylvan Library.

  7. Cheating on mana
There are very few ways to cheat on mana in this cube, so when you see them make sure to value them appropriately. We have notably excluded things like Reanimate and Chrome Mox, so strategies that rely on those types of cards are not well supported.

  8. Who's missing?
Gut, True Soul Zealot and Phelia, Exuberant Shepherd are 2 very powerful cards that we've excluded because they were power outliers, but it's possible they come back in some future iteration. Umezawa's Jitte will never return.
