This cube aims to create intense high powered aggro matches where attack, blocking and single card usage matters massively.

Fast mana is present, but card draw is almost non-existent, and lifegain is sparse. Taking damage is a real risk, with how aggressive the card pool is.

This is a work in progress experiment.

Some early doors thoughts:

  • Red is going to out perform other colours unless I purposeful tone it down- but then we might loose some of the expected cards people will come looking for (Ragavan, and Sulfuric Vortex for eg)
  • Lifegain is meant to be sparse, even more so than the first draft has - thus aristocrat style payoffs and black pingers like Blood Artist might be just too good, especially for making combat a no-go board stall - something to be avoided.
  • Trying to find Green identity in an "aggro every life point matters" environment. Mana dorks feel to slow, and are going to avoided - although maybe Noble/Ignoble Heirarch can be a tent pole power level pick thanks to Exalted? The typical 3 mana stat check like Steel Leaf Champion seems just too much of a brick wall against the rest of the cubes focus on 1-3 mana attackers. Maybe +1/+1 counters as a synergistic "combo" build is the answer - but these things sound harder to draft, and weaker than conventional Red.
  • Snapcaster Mage might be just too powerful. There is an aim to keep MOST removal in the 2 mana slot, to allow 1 drops to have impact - having Snap, Bolt, Snap as one of the highest power synergies in the cube might be either a) back breaking, or b) a cool payoff. Unsure. Another outlier in blue, and with Snappy, might be Chart A Course - one of the few raw card draw spells in the cube - it being a 4 mana "synergy" with Snappy might make it expensive enough that it can be ran over by the other aggro decks. All we can do is play, and see how this turns out.
