A way to play Balatro, with Magic cards
The player begins with a 52-card deck: 2 copies of 13 Black cards and 2 copies of 13 Red cards. The first round, they simply have to beat a Boss with 10 life in 3 turns or less.
The player starts with a hand of 7 cards, and may not mulligan. During the draw step, if they have fewer than 7 cards in hand, they draw cards equal to the difference. At the beginning of each first main phase, they put a Bloodstone Cameo onto the battlefield. Once per turn, for free, they may discard up to 5 cards from their hand and draw that many cards. The player cannot cast more than 5 spells in a turn.
After defeating the first Boss, they can see what the next one will be. It has 5 more starting life than the previous Boss and one random ongoing effect from the Boss section, which will not be repeated. With this in mind, the player has the following three options, and performs any two of their choice:
Shuffle the Joker deck and reveal two cards. They may take one of them as a permanent effect during their games. The maximum number of active Jokers a player can have is 4. If they already have 4, they may discard an old one to take a new 4th.
Shuffle the Arcana deck and reveal three cards. They may take one of them as a permanent effect during their games. If it is a Hidden Agenda, they may choose new names at the beginning of each game. The maximum number of active Arcana a player can have is 4. If they already have 4, they may discard an old one to take a new 4th.
Use a Tarot effect to manipulate their deck:
a) The Hanged Man: Remove up to 4 cards from the deck.
b) Death: Change up to 2 cards in the deck into 2 other cards in the deck.
This cycle repeats, until they have beaten a 40 life boss and all prior bosses successfully. This is a win!
