This is a 360 card cube designed with a single restriction. All spells must require at least 2 different colors of mana to be cast. This restriction also extends to hybrid mana cards, which limited their inclusion as well. As a result, all spells in this cube have a CMC of at least 2 and are GOLD. (This also means that are very few artifacts in this cube.)
My intent for this cube was to create an altered draft style in which common, mono-colored staples are replaced by less familiar multi-colored cards, as well as to place a higher emphasis on mana-fixing and tactical use of colored mana.
Mana FixingIn order to create playable manabases, I have included 2 of each fetch land, 2 of each MH3 landscape, and 2 of each triome. I have toyed with the idea of giving each player 2 free dual lands of their choice at the end of the draft, but I still need to do more test drafts to see if that's necessary.
Thematically, each 2-color combination is supported by 28 spells, and each 3-color shard is supported by 2 spells. Decks will likely consist of 2-4 colors, with 2-color combinations being the most thematically aligned, and 3-color combinations being the most flexible. I did not fully consider 4-color combinations in my card selection process, so they lack a little bit of cohesion in themes, but are still viable.
2-color spells are heavily aligned with that pairing's identity. Here are example cards from each pairing to highlight the primary themes:
Azorius
Boros
Dimir
Rakdos
Gruul
Selesnya
Orzhov
Izzet
Golgari
Simic
3-color spells are intended to be capstones that bridge the gap between their inner 3, 2-color pairings. For example:
