Welcome to Tarkir!

This is a cube focused on the Khans of Tarkir in a universe where the events of Fate Reforged and Dragons of Tarkir never happened. Mechanically dabbling in the keywords from KTK/FRF/DTK but flavorfully and aesthetically trying hard to avoid inclusion of anything pertaining to Sarkhan, Sorin, Ugin, any living dragons, or the DTK fates of important people such as the Khans. Extinct dragons are an important part of the cultures that exist on Tarkir so references to dragons in passing as a cultural motif are fine.


I started playing magic regularly during the Tarkir Block, and DTK was my first prerelease. I wanted to recreate that limited environment as well as the feeling of kitchen table magic during that time, putting together a deck where synergy and aesthetic prevailed over speed or power level.

All of your beloved/despised mechanics from Tarkir are here! Dash, raid, prowess, rebound, delve, exploit, formidable, ferocious, bolster, outlast, manifest, and (mega)morph.

Feedback from initial drafts of the cube is that the talismans are must-picks that enable 4+ color goodstuff piles too easily. I still want to provide nonland mana fixing outside of the banners, so I'm trying out some setting-ambiguous artifacts. Additionally, each color is getting another cheap spell to with the intention of giving aggro strategies a little nudge.
