Peasant+ | ~400 Cards | Graveyard-themed
A conspicuously synergistic discard and graveyard-based cube.

INFO
  • PEASANT+: The cube is Peasant with rare lands and the occasional rare nonland that fits the power level (testing Idol of Endurance for example). Either way, it's pretty cheap (as long as you proxy the lands).
  • DINGLETON: Given the very specific theme of the cube, there's two of each card to increase reliability. Having two of each also makes the draft a bit easier to handle for people unfamiliar with the cards.
  • ALL GRAVEYARD, ALL THE TIME: Almost all cards in the cube somehow relate to the graveyard. Typically narrow build-around-mes often become might-as-well-include-mes here. Several graveyard/discard-based enablers and pay-offs are seeded throughout the different colors, and are meant to blend into each other almost seamlessly.
  • NO STRICT ARCHETYPES: Having these broad themes present in as many colors as possible allows for more flexibility and freedom when combining colors and cards. Micro-archetypes like ur Spells are present, but can be drafted and built in different ways (e.g. focusing on either cycling or madness or flashback).
  • CUTE COMBOS AND NO TIME TO DURDLE: Cute little combos come up all the time during matches – but while games can go long and grindy, several colors can put on an almost never-ending amount of pressure with their recurring creatures. Assembling a game-winning value engine isn't hard to do, but actually getting there is.
  • CUSTOM CARDS: The cube features custom cards to enable certain archetypes (currently inside: A white Necromancy, a couple of aggressive hybrid one-drops, and whole bunch of modified Terramorphic Expanses).

COLORS
  • w WHITE: Recurring creatures, cycling, reanimation
  • u BLUE: Spells, cycling/draw, flashback
  • b BLACK: Madness, recurring creatures, reanimation
  • r RED: Madness, Spells, cycling, lands
  • g GREEN: Lands, threshold/self-mill, recurring creatures

THEMES
  • MIDRANGE MADNESS brg Early aggressive discard outlets to gain discount on cards with madness or flashback.

  • CYCLING / DRAW / DISCARD wubr A broad category that uses cycling, looting and rummaging to fuel payoff-cards that want to either draw or discard cards.

  • FLASHBACK / RETRACE urg A strategy looking to combine flashback and retrace with spell synergies or cards like Secrets of the Dead. Can be built into a massive value engine using retrace and land recursion.

  • THRESHOLD (SPELLS / CREATURES / LAND) ubrg Some themes try to fill up the grave using discard and self-mill to power effects that count certain card types. Golgari often looks for creatures; Gruul sometimes looks for lands; Izzet looks for spells.

  • REANIMATOR bwx Usually more of a value-based strategy than the combo-y I-win one. Black and white offer reanimation effects while other colors can be splashed for discard, selfmill or one or two big guys that can bin themselves.

  • ATTRITION wubrg Looting and rummaging effects fill the graveyard with cards that make a comeback later to continuously keep up the pressure or gather up value in the long run. Can be steered more aggressively or defensively. To be honest, this isn't much of a theme; it's just the cube in general.
