Deckbuilding rules for this cube that differ from regular Commander/Brawl
  • You have an uncommon creature (or planeswalker) designated as your commander. https://cubecobra.com/cube/list/paupercommanderlegends?f=rarity%3Duncommon
  • Your deck must contain 59 cards in your mainboard. 58 if you have two commanders with partner. The mainboard is all commons.
  • Each player starts off with 30 life
  • A player dies after taking 16 damage from a single commander
  • Special Unique Cube Rule: All mono-colored or colorless uncommons have keyword: "partner"; and all multi-colored uncommons have keyword: "partner with monocolored or colorless". That is, you can have any mono-colored/colorless partnered with any other commander so you can always have two commanders, but you can't have two multi-colored commanders.
Drafting Rules (From Commander Legends)
  • Each pack is 20 cards
  • Each pack has 2 commanders seeded. (Commander Legends has 2 uncommon slots but the rare slot is often a legendary)
  • Each pick is two cards
  • Two copies of The Prismatic Piper are available to each player after the draft if they need draft the necessary commanders to support their drafted pile.

Design Philosophies General
  • The cube currently has 720 commons distributed across
    • 30 multicolored
    • 100 in each color
    • 100 colorless (excluding lands)
    • 90 lands
  • In the future looking expand to 816 commons
    • (#Commons in pack * #of packs per player * #players at table) * #of tables to support
    • => (18 * 3 * 8) * 2 = 864
    • Each will have a 50% chance of being seen and adds to the Commander feel
The Commanders
  • There are currently 141 Commands distributed across
    • 2 Five-colour Commanders
    • 10 Tri-Colour Commanders
    • 50 Two-Colour Commanders
    • 15 Commanders in each colour
    • 2 Colourless Commanders
Staples Removal

The lack of sweepers and heavy reliance on commanders makes targeted removal a must. Targeted removal is also the best way to deal with infinite combo decks.

  • With this in mind, removal for the colors have to have some relevance to the cube themes (Except Staple Cards like Flame slash and Murder)
  • Because Commanders can be replayed, pacifism effects increase in value, better if they shut down abilities
  • Because of the Graveyard theme, cards that exile increase in value
Disrupting Removal

Because aura based removal can completely shutdown a commander Reprobation, Tamiyo's Compleation, Lignify, but is too important to theme to cut, there has to be a way to counter or disrupt

Card Aesthetics
  • Black bordered cards only with standard art for the commons to provide aesthetic consistency
  • Commanders should use an alternate art treatment where possible to stand out
  • No foils as they tend curl
  • Card sleeves
    • Black for Commons
    • Gold for Commanders
    • Red for The Prismatic Piper tokens
    • Clear for regular tokens (some tokens are double sided)
