KvatchStart Cube is a Jumpstart format with Commanders for each booster! Draft two boosters from a pool of 160+ possible choices and pick a powerful artifact from the treasure vault.
1. Hybrid Experience - Combine the explosive synergies of Commander with the accessibility and variety of Jumpstart. Access a unique Treasure Vault filled with powerful artifacts.
2. Booster Balance - Each booster stands on its own with a proper theme, strategy, and win condition. No support boosters.
3. Booster Synergy - Wins are decided by optimal execution of synergies between boosters and achieving booster win conditions, not by unconditionally powerful cards.
4. Booster Flavor - Preference is shown to cards that are a better thematic fit where possible. Alternate arts/borders/showcase cards are encouraged.
5. House Rules - Commander color identity rules are not strictly enforced. Non-creature and non-legendary permanents may appear as Commanders. A few booster packs are subject to Booster-Specific Rules (see bottom section for complete list). Singleton within boosters is enforced, barring thematic exceptions. Singleton within entire cube is encouraged but not required as it becomes more difficult with increasing cube size.

The KvatchStart Cube is assembled into various boosters, each with their own Commander(s). Each player assembles their deck by combining two boosters and their respective Commanders. All designated Commander cards from both boosters are combined into the Command Zone. All Commander cards from both boosters are each subject to an individual Commander Tax tracked separately. Commander damage is not tracked.
1v1 is played with 25 starting life total. Multiplayer is played with 30 starting life.
Players can draft or randomly select their two boosters. The following steps are used to completely assemble each deck:
1. The Draft: Each player picks a booster from a random selection of 10. Then they pass the remaining 9 to the next player and pick their second booster to complete their deck. Alternatively, each player may randomly select two boosters from the entire pool to form their deck.
2. The Treasure Vault: Each player then chooses three RANDOM artifacts from the Kvatch Koffers. From the three Koffers cards chosen, the player picks one to use in their deck.
3. Mana Fixing: Each player then has the choice of selecting up to 6 cards from the Fixing Lands. These Fixing Lands must replace basic lands in the decks. Each player then adds one Command Tower to each deck.
Each deck must contain 42 cards (2 x 20 maindeck cards, 1 Kvatch Koffers card, 1 Command Tower). This 42 card minimum does not include any Commanders.
B - Pump and Dump treats Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth as its Commander. Playing it from the Command Zone counts as a land drop.
B - Suicide Black allows Spike, Tournament Grinder's ability to choose a card from the Kvatch Koffers.
B - Cant Deathtouch This allows Phage the Untouchable to be played from the Command Zone without losing the game.
W - Power of the Sun allows Distorting Lens to be played once from the Command Zone. It is not considered a Commander and cannot return to the Command Zone.
RG - Rock and Stone allows Thrumming Stone to be played once from the Command Zone. It is not considered a Commander and cannot return to the Command Zone.
WU - High Life allows Save Life to gain/prevent 3 life instead of 2.5.
WB - Yin and Yang allows Syr Cadian, Knight Owl to use its abilities regardless of time of day.
WRG - Hatchery allows Mysterious Egg to be played once from the Command Zone. It is not considered a Commander and cannot return to the Command Zone.
URG - Treasure Hunters allows Lara Croft, Tomb Raider to a exile a random card from the Kvatch Koffers and put discovery counter on it using her ability.
WUBRG - Maze's End requires that all lands from that booster be used. Do NOT use any lands from the paired booster or from the Fixing Roster. A Commander Tower is still added.
