Introduction

Welcome to Wizard Rap! While many of the core vintage components are present (e.g. Time Walk, Black Lotus, etc.), you might also stumble across a Phone a Friend.

Inspiration for this cube is derived from the MTGO cube, LSV's cube, and other high-powered cubes across the multiverse. If you're new to cube, check out the primer below to get a sense of what to look for.

Staples & Archetypes:

w White serves primarily as an aggro color. It's a great place to start if you're new to cube, and it's hard to go wrong with a low-to-the ground aggressive white deck. Signpost cards include Swords to Plowshares, Mother of Runes, and Palace Jailer to signal an open lane in w.

u Blue is the color that glues multiple archetypes and combos across the cube. While its card advantage and interactive qualities are hallmarks of the color, its ability to facilitate combos can give experienced drafters a big advantage. Some signpost cards include Hullbreacher, Urza, Lord High Artificer, Mana Drain, and Tolarian Academy.

The aforementioned Thassa's Oracle combo is perhaps one of the faster combos in the cube. It can also be facilitated by Doomsday.

Flash is a relatively new--but potent--addition to the cube.

b Black--unsurprisingly--loves the graveyard. Signpost cards include Entomb, Archon of Cruelty, Orcish Bowmasters, and Thoughtseize.

Reanimator is most successful when paired with u or r. For a more lean graveyard approach, look to draft Lurrus of the Dream-Den as a companion.

r Red has had the perhaps the biggest renaissance of all the colors. Burn isn't as viable, and the "mono red/fun police" strategy might make for a rough go. Signpost cards include Broadside Bombardiers, Ragavan, Nimble Pilferer, and Fable of the Mirror-Breaker.

While more of a multi-color combo, Underworld Breach opens up strategies with explosive artifacts and Brain Freeze.

g Green, much like red, has undergone a bit of a shift. Ramping into large creatures is still viable, but green is a little more mid-range of late. Signpost cards include Birds of Paradise, Vaultborn Tyrant, and Pest Infestation.

Green is still king of the lands! Strip Mine and Fastbond are great clues that such a plan might be open.
