This cube is a collaborative effort! When we originally seed the cube, each contributor will choose (or create) an equal share of the cards to be added.
After each play of the cube, we will iterate. The winner of the night is tasked with replacing four (4) cards in the cube. Second place replaces two (3), third place replaces two (2), and all others replace one (1). These numbers are just a starting point, and we may decide to increase or decrease them depending upon the pace at which we want the cube to update. Note that when 'replacing' a card, a participant can instead choose to revise a current card in the cube for resubmission.
Note that the cube allows for duplicates and custom cards. We tend to use mtg.design to create custom cards.
To allow for inclusion of some parasitic mechanics, we have tentatively introduced the following rule:
For each card in his final deck that cares about a certain land type, a player may add one basic land of that type to his pool. For example, if Tom had five cards that care about snow (mention snow lands/permanents or snow mana), he could add five basic snow lands to his deck without needing to draft them. Similarly, a player with one card that requires colorless mana could add a wastes basic to his deck. This only applies to basics; nonbasic lands must be drafted to be added to the pool/deck.
After some inventory, I noticed that we had only 517 cards. I decided to add these 23 prospectively to round out the full 540 we would need. If there are any objections, we can remove any number of these.
