Created for the MTGA Pauper Discord community.
This Explorer Pauper cube aims to capture highlights from the history of draft on Arena. All cards included are sourced from draft sets; the anthologies and jumpstart are omitted.
Archetypes:
WU: Flying Tempo. Land evasive creatures and disrupt your opponent while chipping in damage, just like you did in SNC.
UB: Hard control. Draw all the cards, answer all the things. A little mill action as a treat if you really hate wincons.
BR: Lots of sets have done RB sacrifice; THB probably did it best. Get out your Lampad and maybe steal some fodder.
RG: Gruul always wants to beat down but typically doesn't get designed well enough to be successful at it. Here's an attempt to reach the heights of ELD, while mixing in synergistic aspects NEO's modified, WAR's proliferate and THB/M21's 4 power matters.
GW: With both colors providing plenty of tokens and white's anthems, this pair is a natural fit for go-wide boards. NEO never let you ramp out Imperial Oath with elves.
WB: WB likes a grindy long game. Value creatures, tokens, sacrifice and some lifegain/drain to make the game go forever while you whittle away.
UR: Spells, of course. A greatest hits of instants and sorceries and the creatures that feed off them.
BG: Like most GB draft archetypes, you're using the graveyard as a resource here. Go ahead and fill it!
WR: We're going back to the Boros glory days of M19 and GRN; attack a lot, make your creatures hard to block, then throw down an anthem to close the game.
UG: Ramp a lot, draw a lot, play the biggest creatures, like in STX and IKO.
