This high powered cube format doesn’t require the mental drain that comes with having to store and recall information that’s not printed on the cards (Monarch, Initiative, The Ring Temps You, etc), nested mechanics (Map Tokens), and double sided cards. With a goal rewarding card evaluation in context over the ability to memorize cards, the cube runs the versions of cards that have the rules text for non-evergreen mechanics. The card versions have been set to the ones in the cube to reflect this.
This cube is also very aesthetically driven. When selecting the printings to include, rules text was prioritized foremost and then within that restriction the available printings that bring joy through their visual impact.
