With all the new graveyard interactions I’d like to have some counter play. Here’s hoping a new archetype arises from drafting cards to cast from the yard.
Shrivel is just worse than pyroclasm, but Black should be the better color for killing things. This has a more interesting play pattern with life gain as well.
Phantom nomad has been primarily a defensive creature, but it's lack of flying reduces its area of impact. Flumph is a veritable brick wall to most creatures but the trade-off of giving your opponents a card makes this a more interesting defensive creature for white.
Gluttonous slug presents turn 3 kills about as often as vault skirge does, but with the added bonus of being more defensive and harder to kill.
Clinging Mists won almost every game it was cast. the tap and freeze is very strong, so I wanted to resort to a cheaper fog effect, and this one happens to play nicely with Abiding Grace.
In keeping with the theme of playing well with Abiding Grace, I've included Myr Scrapling which also adds complexity to combat math in a way Memnite never could.
Ebon Drake was a carry over from the original lists I synthesized my list from. It never played well in my experience and didn't match the strength of other colors 3 mana threats. Yahenni, Undying Partisan should add a decent amount of fear for a black player with 3 mana. The flexibility for offense and defense is very nice.
I've reduced the number of flying threats by 25% so I think I have room to reduce greens hate for fliers. Prosperous Innkeeper will most likely bite a bullet or have to chump block, but if it lives there should be a nice reward for that player.
