Adding more cool cards, removing cards that don't get played, etc.

Looking to add a few invasions when I get them.

Cutting Monastery Siege and Sarkhan's Triumph for Hidetsugu and Kairi and Zurgo and Ojutai. Cutting bad old cards for cool maybe good cards.

Will add more cards soon after the release of MoM: Aftermath. That new Sarkhan might change how Blue/Red plays a bit.

Refer to the previous blog post for my thoughts on the new additions. Overall I am pretty happy with the new additions and excited for the next draft I try out. Blue looks a lot more attractive to play with, and there are far more options for both 5 color strategies and more focused color combinations such as Gruul/ Jund, Bant/Naya, and Esper. One big change was swapping the slow dual lands and fetch lands for fast lands and pain lands. On to the Cuts from the cube.

  • Inferno of the Star Mounts (The Uncounterability clause and haste might make him come back.)
  • Pentarch Paladin (I'm guessing the www scares players away from picking him or casting him. I really hope for it to make a return. They seem insane.)
  • Baneslayer Angel (She is in a timeout chair for now. I don't know how the Dragonstalker substitution will turn out for this sort of card. But if Dragonstalker underperforms too much I'll return Baneslayer back to the cube.)
  • Dragon Fangs (nothing really wrong with it, but I wanted to try out a few other cards as well. Will find its way back if cards suck)
  • Lotus Bloom and Pyretic Ritual (Not great. Pretty much the only cards that made the Dragonstorm dream possible.)
  • Ugin's Nexus (Trust me this card is good!!!)

For the first update and coming changes to the cube and receiving some feedback (after 4 drafts), I have made some immediate changes as well as plans for future changes.

A few notes and things I will be changing in the cube soon:

  • Pain Lands and Fast Lands in for fetch lands and the “have two or more lands ETB untapped” lands. (Mana fixing is good, but it made being 4/5c free and it makes control decks better while faster decks suffered slightly.)
  • Baneslayer Angel is easily one of the best stand-alone cards in the cube.
  • The differentiation between the archetypes I set for Jund and the treasure strategy has proven to be a little muddy. I am not certain how to separate them more at this time, but it is a problem I’m aware of, and will look for options.
  • I would like to add a couple more solid pieces of equipment, likely more sword of X&Ys to have more protection red and a protection green option.
  • Blue is so underwhelming, need to give more incentive to be in blue.
  • Plummet control is a thing and that may be a problem lol

  • Hoarding Dragon (adding some good artifacts soon, so it might be worth trying now)
  • 3x Haven of the Spirit Dragon (I would like to find more cuts to add more of these to the cube potentially, probably will return)

The following cards are on the watch for being replaced:

For the first run of the cube 360, I will not have the following cards in the cube with reasoning in paratheses:

  • Stoneforge Mystic (not a knight, not really on theme of cube, could return)
  • Dragon Wings (in general bad targets in colors, not likely to return)
  • Day of the Dragons (very niche, but could be cool in some builds, may return)
  • Feed the Swarm (too painful in most cases, not likely to return)
  • Slumbering Dragon (will probably never be online before it can do anything. not likely to return)
  • Hoarding Dragon (Not many good artifacts to get, not likely to return.)
  • Ryusei, the Falling Star (doesn't kill much on death, feels bad, not likely to return)
  • Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker (kinda underwhelming maybe? Needed cuts and seemed like a candidate, could return)
  • Form of the Dragon (was added for theme of cube, is ultimately really bad lol, not likely to return)
  • Whirlwind (I think I added too many "boardwipe flyers" cards, and the others have more uses, may return, but not likely)
  • Boxing Ring (I need to add more fight cards to the cube for this to be better, not likely to return)
  • Atarka, World Render (needed cuts, gruul was a little big, could return)
  • Karrthus, Tyrant of Jund (may be too heavy in deciding games, could be cool though, may or may not return)
  • Sol Ring (xd I just wanted a sol ring, will not return)
  • Chromatic Orrery (high cost might not make it worth, but with some tweaks it could, may return)
  • 3x Haven of the Spirit Dragon (I would like to find more cuts to add more of these to cube potentially, probably will return)
