I hosted another play session for the cube and it was huge success, this iteration of the cube was the most playable version yet! The overall sentiment is that there were plenty of options for interaction, plenty of creatures to choose from, and plenty of options for commanders. I always like to take any feedback from players to see if there are any changes that I can make for further improvement.
Here are the Notes from the players:
- Black and Red have a lot of double pip
- This might be pretty tough to adjust, given how limited red and black are on card selection.
- Lots of cards that double draw and mana, made games very fast. Control would struggle.
- I agree, while cards like that are fun I think that a reduction in mana doublers might be in order. I will evaluate the card draw as well. The blue green decks were very strong this time around.
- Never got to 7 mana. More Ramp?
- Not sure how much I agree with this one, the person stating this had a WR deck so that inherently puts them at a disadvantage to start with. I will still see what I can do though.
Gameplay notes:
- The Blue green deck ran away with the game, the deck was lead by Arixmethes, Slumbering Isle and was able to play both Nyxbloom Ancient and Dictate of Karametra. It was atrocious and essentially pushed out the other players at the table, it was not fun. I am removing both Arixmethes, Slumbering Isle and Nyxbloom Ancient.
- Alexios, Deimos of Kosmos is absolutely cracked. It destroyed the table in the first game since nobody could find a way to deal with it, but the overall sentiment was that they loved it. It created chaos in all the right ways and was fun to try to deal with. The second game they just killed the owner of it to deal with it, which is totally valid.
Based on the feedback I will try to see if there are any meaningful changes that I can make for further improvements.
Here are the deck lists for all participants of the session:
