Vectis Agents has always been terrible. Vedalken Ghoul is at least cheap to cast.
Bear Punch finally says goodbye, pushed out by the inevitable MH3 power creep :(
I am still looking at if green has too much anti-flying tech. Having to choose between the counters OR the flying removal is an interesting tension. Also the counters become uncounterable, which makes it a slightly more desirable trick.
Leafcrown Dryad stayed longer than it should have, really. Bogles can go tall with counters, and that's really all that the dryad provided...although it does raise the question of when/if Aura Gnarlid gets cut and the simic deck just becomes the selesnya deck.
I HATE to say goodbye to Colossal Dreadmaw, but the mask is just significantly better in the context of the cube and what it wants to do.
Transmogrant is a straight upgrade to the skeleton.
Supernatural Stamina never did anything; more removal with optional graveyard applicability slots in.
Morkrut Behemoth also never did anything. Accursed Marauder in for more removal!
Extract the Truth was just underwhelming. Swapping in Drossclaw for synergy with all four black combos.
Eyeblight Massacre is a really bad boardwipe and I don't like to play really bad cards. Sanguine Syphoner in for Orzhov, Dimir, and Rakdos.
Undercity Scrounger reads really exciting but was underwhelming in practice. Scurrilous Sentry fits into several archetypes.
Gideon's Lawkeeper is from a bygone era. Leonin Bola still provides the effect to any deck that needs it.
Savannah Lions and Daring Skyjek also just aren't relevant to any archetypes and their aggressive stats aren't as impressive as they once were.
Ardenvale Tactician was underwhelming for the entire time it was in the cube, as were Relief Captain and Supply Runners.
Basilica Guards is cut for being noninteractive and not flexible.
Trapped in the Tower is being upgraded to Petrify. Worse art, better card.
Adding Carrot Cake which fits into multiple archetypes.
Miner's Guidewing is an early evasive threat that replaces itsef with value when it dies, which seems like a good place to be. Steadfast Unicorn likewise provides a mana dump later.
Felidar Savior is an upgraded ETB put-counters-on-things effect.
Holy Cow and Splitskin Doll are hopefully more interesting blink targets while also being more affordable and aggressive.
Squad Rallier seems like a powerful -- if expensive -- effect. Trying it to see what happens.
Generator Servant never did what it promised; Young Red Dragon is a more appealing pseudo-ramp that also fits into Izzet.
Trying Rapacious One instead of Sun-Crowned Hunters; could be a good finisher for Boros.
Rally at the Hornburg replaces Goblin Instigator as a Sorcery that does the same thing but also triggers Prowess.
People did not love Valley Dasher and its stats are no longer significant. Raid Bombardment can cause some headaches for now.
Snaremaster Sprite was an unexciting blink target. Armguard Familar was an expensive way to give a creature Ward. Neither will be missed.
Spellweaver Eternal is another card that has been in the cube for a long time and has never felt desired or impactful.
Salvager of Secrets becomes the last in a long, long line of expensive creatures with an ETB that returns an instant/sorcery from graveyard to hand. Ultimately it's just a really expensive effect to staple onto a creature and there are better things to be doing. This effect may come back one day, but probably not on this body.
Sea Hag is an early/mid instant and a late-game body with an ETB. It's not a super amazing effect in either mode, but the flexibility should help it find its way into Izzet AND Azorius decks.
Preening Champion is a Wind Drake + friend which is amazing. Great blink target.
Zephyr Winder is an include for the Dimir decks to have another saboteur effect. It's also a nice pseudo-vigilance.
Lightshell Duo has Prowess to fuel the Izzet deck, but the surveil means it can slot nicely as a splash in a Golgari deck, plus it's just good card selection. Also look how cute!
Cuombajj Witches it out because black is not hurting for removal, it doesn't play into any archetypes, and I do not want to feature the artist.
Starlit Soothsayer fits into all four black archetypes and is an easy replacement for something like Dutiful Attendant which was bad in one and unplayable in the others.
Blind Zealot has been with us for a very long time and I do like the tension it provides, so it may come back some day, but ultimately I don't think it was a popular card that people enjoyed playing.
Infestation Sage adds another cheap black creature for Rakdos and a disposable one for Golgari.
Squirming Mass has been one of my favorite cards since I started playing, so I'm delighted to slot it in and see if it plays well.
Blanchwood Prowler is replacing Gnoll Hunter to better play into the Golgari deck while keeping the Selesnya interaction.
Cackling Prowler is a stright-up better Bulette with added ward for the Simic deck.
Ambush Viper has been with us since almost the beginning, but it doesn't play into any synergies and it's time to try something else. Coiling Stalker and Rot Shambler were not living up to their potential.
Treetop Snarespinner is an attractive mana dump. Pathfindin Axejaw plays into three of the four green archetypes. And Colossal Badger joins a long list of "big fat fatty with early use".
Notes: I think green may have slightly too much anti-flier tech. Looking at Big Play as a possible cut. Also there's a dearth of three-drop creatures, so I am keeping an eye on that.
Travel Preparations is an underwhelming sorcery getting replaced by an excellent vanilla body, but the body is notably all counters.
Frenzied Arynx is fine but MH3 limited bomb Writhing Chrysalis is way more exciting. I think its power will be limited by the lack of duplicates.
Infuse with Vitality was an experiment that went nowhere; Corpseberry Cultivator plays nicely with Selesnya decks while reinforcing the Golgari theme.
Teach by Example was cute, but I think sending the message that Izzet's major payoff is CREATURES that get better when you PLAY instants and sorceries is a better fit.
The Urzatron workers were always more cute than functional. I don't think the dream ever happened while they were in.
Whispersilk Cloak has been with us since forever, but it's expensive for the effect and leads to non-interaction, plus it's a nonbo with a lot of effects that want to target your own inclusion. It may come back some day, but we're gonna try something else.
Oasis Gardener and Sanitation Automaton fill a lot of the same functions of the Urzatron workers as cruve-fillers with decent effects.
Juggernaut is a chonky boy that should help break board stalls.
Glimmerlight joins Flayer Husk as an equipment with a body. It did good work in Duskmourn limited and I expect that to be the case here, too.
