Wanted to add a short blog entry here for the reason, that I overhauled the overview page with actual content and changed the cube name from "660 modular cube" to "The Modular Experience: Assemble your own draft pool out of the box (EST. 2023)". Now the overview page is properly structed and adjusted with the experience and knowledge gained, since the time I just slammed down my notes and links in order to have something functional for my reddit post. An additional reason was the fact, that I wanted to post this cube in a new cube community server and I wanted to have finally something presentable.

I wish everyone a happy new year and lots of cube drafting!

Changes from 31st Dec 2024 for October/November 2024

Note

The last few cards required for the "Power Up" Module and Lore Seeker modules have arrived and are sleeved. There were 3 drafts in December 2024, where all the main modules have been tested, but not the additional modules yet. Currently working on a new system to keep a watch list and new cards for the cube. New major update will come in February 2025 after Aetherdrift release.

Mainboard Changelist+126, -126

Changes from 13th Oct 2024 for October/November 2024


Goals of the update:

Adding new cards by swapping about 5-7 cards per archetype - => At least 10 new cards per regular module => At least 100 new cards in the whole 660 cards

  • Adjusting couple archetypes to increase the difference between similar archetypes in the cube
  • Finishing up all the various extra modules and have them ready to be used

Module 2 summary
UB:

  • shifting from pure cycling to more self-discard focused approach
  • added more options to repeat discard
    -removed reanimate, maybe adding it to a different module in the future

RGW:

  • swapping some clunky cards with others, which are more straight forward with their impact

Module 3 summary
RG:

  • removed the treasure token cards
  • adding lots of MH3 cards to add more utility and aggro options

GUW:

  • adding only mono green cards to improve the token theme overall for that color
  • lots of small creatures, 4/5 are able to create tokens in some way

Module 4 summary
RG:

  • swapping out slower and costly cards with lower mana value cards
  • focusing more on aggro and removed protection option from this archetype

UWB:

  • swapping cards to ones with similar roles but are more straight forward

Module 5 summary
GW:

UBR:

  • shifting from death touch spells to commit crime
  • swapping lots of cards to enable a midrange approach compared to the slow control style previously

Module 6 summary
WB:

  • removing gods and swapping cards for similar effects

RUG:

  • adding more options to trigger enraged-like effects with fight spells

Module 7 summary
UR:

  • adding new payoffs which are also castable

WBG:

  • removing dungeon mechanic
  • adding a few more enablers

Module 8 summary

  • shifting from sacrifice ping based archetype to pod archetype with food token as additional theme

WUR:

  • adding new effects which replace prowess or similar effects

Module 9 summary
RW:

  • replacing some equipment with high equip costs with cheap equipment, some with etb-attachment
  • removed infinite combo as it is too hard to pull off
  • focusing on quick set up and aggro

BUG:

  • shifting to delirium and threshold as main mechanic
  • shifting from control style to midrange with cheap scaling threats
  • removed graveyard tutors and focusing on self-mill

Module 10 summary
UG:

  • swapping to cards with simpler effects

BRW:

  • adding more fooder to the archetype
  • removing some life gain
  • adding more focus on creature token

WIP status

finishing up the Lore Seeker modules

  • --> missing about 20 (?) cards
    finishing up the "Power Up" module, which now includes parts of the previously mentioned "4/5 color" module
  • --> missing 2 cards
    finishing up creating the "Draft Matter" mini-Module (just a few cards to spice up things a bit)
  • --> became part of the Lore Seeker modules, but can be used separately

Changes from 29th Sep 2024 for October/November 2024

Initially I wanted to finish this update by end of August after Bloomburrow release, but motivation and personal life did not align enough to keep the projected time line. Current goal is to finish the update by mid October/ start of November including all the new modules. This is part 1 as I have most of the cards already, but I have not found the time to swap out the cards yet. At least now I have started it.

  • changed some cards to mana value cheaper versions
  • added etb/leave battlefield payoff

BRG:

  • adding more discard outlet while increasing effects to play cards out of the exile
  • removed high mana value payoffs
  • removed last silver bordered card (Blast from the past)

WIP status

  • finishing up the Lore Seeker modules
    --> missing about 20 (?) cards
  • finishing up the "Power Up" module, which now includes parts of the previously mentioned "4/5 color" module
    --> missing 2 cards
  • finishing up creating the "Draft Matter" mini-Module (just a few cards to spice up things a bit)

Changes from 18th Feb 2024 for March 2024

Goals of these changes:

  • Base Module: replacing "best staples" with similar effects but less mana cost effective in order to adjust certain effects to similar mana costs across the whole cube
  • adjustments to archetypes in terms of compositions, support and streamlining, mainly by including cards from MKM and shifting cards from one to another module
  • replacing all triomes by the surveil lands cycle

Next planned update: TBD, shifting to a quarterly major update and one or more minor adjustments between major updates
Projected Goals:

  • Modules for Lore Seeker and "Draft Matter" mini-Modules are ready
  • "Power Up" Module is ready to be used

WIP

  • finishing up the Lore Seeker modules
  • finishing up the "Power Up" module, which now includes parts of the previously mentioned "4/5 color" module

Changes from 20th Jan 2024

Goals of these changes:

  • removing all free spells
  • adjusting certain archetypes that have overperformed (BR artifact)
  • replacing certain cards with similar effects but for cheaper/fairer/better (if the card was too weak) version
  • adjusting the composition of certain archetype by trying to give more support and/or enablers in certain aspects

Next planned update: March 2024
Projected Goals:

  • Downgrading Base Module
  • Including cards from MKM

WIP

  • Modules for Lore Seeker and other draft matter cards
  • Working on specific mini-module for Lore Seeker and how to facilitate its effect for this cube in an elegant manner (packs size related)
  • Working on a "Power Up" module, where some of the strictly good cards from base module and other cards will find a new home (can be used in addition for the draft or used for Lore Seeker)
  • Working on a "4/5 color" module, which aims to facilitate certain archetypes like Domain including Scion of Draco and good stuff like Omnath, Locus of Creation, while enabling stronger mana fixing like Birds of Paradise and Chromatic Lantern
